Alan Turing (1912-1954)
the founder of modern computing. He was brought up in Guildford and
his biographer,
Andrew Hodges in "Alan Turing: the Enigma" mentions that he used to walk
around Guildford as a young lad discussing his ideas on computing with his mother.
He lived at 22 Ennismore Avenue by Stoke Park in Guildford during his school days.
There is a plaque on the house commemorating Turing's early life in Guildford.
